We support a project in Pakistan by the Lower Sindh Rural Development Association. This organisation is active in the Mirpukhas district, a dry area that is one of the poorest in Pakistan. Their project involves supplying the local population with wood ovens that burn more efficiently. There are many advantages to using these ovens: People spend less money on fire wood, less wood needs to be cut, cooking takes less time, and respiratory problems are greatly reduced. These improved ovens also make for a substantial lower emission of CO2 which eventually will amount to 1250 tons of CO2 a year. At the same time the LSRDA is replanting Neem trees. The fruit of Neem trees can be used as a natural medicine and repellent for agriculture.
